Myra Canyon Rail Trail

Myra Canyon was one area severely affected by a major forest fire in 2003. The old Kettle Valley Railroad trestles were burned in the fire. Only a few of the 18 tunnels were unaffected. The two steel trestles lost their decking but the steel structure survived. All of the trestles have been rebuilt and are architecturally identical to the originals but cannot carry the load of a railway. The rail trail is now used for cycling and waking enjoyment. The burn area and some regrowth can be seen in a few of the photographs. On this trip Dave and I cycled 20 km round trip over all 18 of the reconstructed trestles.
